About the case
This case involved the replacement of three missing upper teeth in a patient in his early 40s who had delayed treatment for several years following extractions.
The treatment plan was presented to the patient at the initial consultation, supported by a 3D CBCT scan review showing planned implant positions and expected crown emergence profiles. The patient approved the plan and elected to proceed with all three implants in a single surgical session.
- CBCT scan confirmed adequate bone volume at all three implant sites
- Guided surgery protocol used to position each implant to within 0.5mm of planned position
- Healing abutments placed at surgery to begin shaping the soft tissue emergence profile
Surgical procedure and healing
Implant placement was completed under local anaesthesia in approximately 75 minutes. The patient reported minimal discomfort and managed post-operative sensitivity with standard analgesics for 48 hours. A temporary removable partial denture was provided for the healing period.
- All three implants placed in a single session under local anaesthesia
- Temporary removable denture provided for the 12-week osseointegration period
- Review appointments at 4 and 8 weeks confirmed stable integration progress
Final restoration
At 12 weeks, stability testing confirmed successful osseointegration at all three sites. Digital impressions were taken and final ceramic crowns were designed and fabricated. The crowns were fitted two weeks later, completing the restoration 16 weeks from the initial implant placement date.
"I put this off for years and I genuinely wish I had come sooner. The process was far easier than I expected and the result is exactly what I was hoping for."
