Every new patient examination at Caliora includes a full soft tissue assessment with oral cancer screening, a tooth-by-tooth clinical examination, periodontal pocket depth charting, and digital radiographs where clinically indicated. From this assessment we produce a written treatment plan that prioritises need, outlines all options, and provides a full cost breakdown before any work begins.

Professional hygiene appointments are recommended for all patients regardless of gum health status. Our hygienists use ultrasonic scaling, airflow decontamination, and hand instrumentation to remove calculus and biofilm that brushing alone cannot reach. Hygiene appointments also include personalised oral hygiene instruction tailored to each patient's technique and home care routine.

For patients at higher risk of decay — particularly children and young adults — fissure sealants and fluoride varnish provide effective additional protection. We recommend these preventive treatments proactively, not just when decay is already present.

Recall intervals are set individually based on your clinical risk profile. We do not apply a generic six-month schedule to every patient — your recall frequency is determined by your gum health, decay risk, and restorative history.
